My recommendation

As you all know, I am a Periodontist and my partner Adeline is a Prosthodentist.

We pay special attention to the dental needs of people we know. Your teeth are the most important feature after your face. A beautiful set of teeth will definitely affect a person's self confidence.

While surfing the internet, came across an interesting blog that provide information on dental care. It is written so simply that everyone can understand.

You can also download a Knocked-Out Tooth Emergency First Aid Flowchart. This information is very useful. Besides it is so simple that even a 7 year old kid can understand.

What to do if I knock or injure my teeth?

Dental emergencies in sports are rare but that does not necessarily mean it will not happen. When it happen, it is usually the case of "Don't know what to do".

An article was featured in the Singapore Magazine “Exquisite” in their September 2007 issue. Our Mission

The ultimate aim of MYA is to provide a range of apparel and accessories specifically for women of all races and religions so that every single woman will enjoy sports and the outdoors to the fullest.

How we started MYA Sports Concept?

MYA was conceived in 2004 simply because we decided we wanted to share our passion about sports and any outdoor activities with women from all backgrounds and sensitivities.

We wanted to create a home-grown line of sports wear that will empower these women to join in the adventure. Living in multi-racial Singapore and surrounded by Muslim friends and colleagues, we realised the void in the sports apparel market that hindered the Muslim women from participating in most sports, much less perform at their best. Hence, the first product we set out to do was to design a sports oriented head gear for Muslim Women. We then went on to source and design other apparel for these women.

Who is MYA Sports Concept?

The founders of MYA are

Yasmin Akrum, who is a Periodontist.
Adeline Wong, a Prosthodontist and
Michelle Goh, a Life Sciences Researcher by training.
We share a common interest in sports and embracing new and untried ideas.

Yasmin started out in adventure racing in 2000 and has since branched out into marathons, duathlons and triathlons. Through this journey, she has come to appreciate the value of well-designed performance sports wear in order to simply enjoy the races and perform optimally.

Adeline was a self-confessed couch potato till she was enticed and inspired by Yasmin to lead a more active life. Through those training sessions, she realised the difference that climate-suited gear could make on whether one makes a push for another lap or simply give up because it's just way too uncomfortable. As most fashionistas would say, it's more than just clothes!

Michelle was a lab rat trained in biodiversity and ecology. On many occasions, she had to venture into the outdoor jungles and dense vegetations to look for the rare and unique. Often, it was difficult to find the appropriate outfit to suit our hot and humid climate. Other than comfort, ease of movement was her priority.
